Product Overview
A Corten steel partition is an indoor/outdoor space divider made primarily of weathering steel (Corten steel) using processes such as laser cutting, engraving, and welding. It combines the industrial aesthetic of weathering steel with a modern design, gradually forming a dense and stable reddish-brown oxide layer in the natural environment, providing structural protection and a unique decorative effect.
Main Materials and Performance
Base Material Selection: Weathering steel plates of grades such as Q235NH and Corten-A/B are used. Some custom products also incorporate 304/316 stainless steel to enhance corrosion resistance in specific environments.
Aging Mechanism: When exposed to the elements, the material's surface spontaneously forms a dense, reddish-brown oxide film approximately 0.1–0.2 mm thick. This protective layer effectively blocks the penetration of external corrosive agents, preventing corrosion through the rust itself and eliminating the need for an additional protective paint layer.
Physical Properties: Its yield strength and tensile strength are superior to those of ordinary carbon steel, offering excellent wind pressure resistance and structural stability, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Surface Treatment and Processes
Surface Condition: The product is generally delivered in bare steel (with anti-rust oil) or with an initial rust layer treated through an induction rust process. After installation, a uniform and stable red rust color is achieved in approximately 3-6 months under natural drying and humidity conditions.
Processing Technology:
Laser Cutting: Enables high-precision hollow engraving with smooth edges; customizable with various elements such as landscapes, geometric shapes, and plants.
Welding: The frame is welded using argon arc welding, resulting in smooth weld points and ensuring a robust structure.
Additional coatings: For special design requirements, fluorocarbon spray treatments, powder coating, or heat-resistant black paint are offered to modify the final color.
