Product Introduction
Weathering steel has been developed to eliminate the need of coating on steel structures since the beginning of the twentieth century. It is a group of mild steel alloys with added relevant alloying elements, such as Copper (Cu), Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Phosphorus (P), Silicon (Si) and Manganese (Mn), to facilitate the formation of protective oxide layers called patina. The applications of weathering steel in bridge construction have been proven to be beneficial in terms of durability, reduced construction and maintenance costs, lower environmental impact, together with a relatively attractive and pleasing appearance.
