Can it be used under a covered patio with a wood ceiling.? Is there smoke or an odor from the pellets?It can be used under a covered patio, we would like to see 3 feet clearance over the top and all sides. The chimney comes in sections and the small ones can be removed and still function. It burns clean and there's no smoke during the burning, only very light smoke when it is just lit or goes out. The wood pellets are made from saw dust, so there's no odor and just a little bit woody smell.

How are the pellets fed into the heater? Gravity fed or manual?
It's gravity fed. After pouring wood pellets into the hoppers, the wood pellets will drop into the burning chamber by gravity through the 2 feeding tubes. When it burns, the wood pellets will get smaller and shrink to nothing (ash), and the new ones will drop again. You can watch the videos about how it works.Flame heater is designed to use wood pellets for the best heat output. But sometimes if you cannot get wood pellets and still need to use it for some emergency, wood is still workable. Make sure to use caution when loading and reloading wood inside the burning chamber.
