A Corten steel barbecue is an outdoor appliance made primarily of Corten steel. It combines the functionality of grilling with the unique aesthetic of Corten steel's reddish-brown oxide color, serving as an efficient heat source and cooking platform, as well as a visually appealing element for outdoor spaces.

Over time, a dense layer of reddish-brown oxide naturally forms on the surface of Corten steel, giving it a richer, more nuanced appearance that gradually changes from a bright orange-red to a deep brownish-red. A Corten steel barbecue integrates grilling, heating, and decoration, making it the ideal choice for modern outdoor living.

Base Material Selection

Common Grades: Q235NH, O9CuPCrNi-A (CORTEN-A), SPA-H, B480GNQR, etc., weathering steel sheets.

Sheet Thickness: Standard 2.0 mm to 6.0 mm; Customizable according to product size and usage requirements.

Alloy composition: Contains corrosion-resistant elements such as copper (Cu 0.25-0.5%), chromium (Cr 0.3-1.25%), and nickel (Ni 0.12-0.65%), providing 4 to 8 times greater weather resistance than ordinary carbon steel.

Oxidation mechanism: When weathering steel is exposed to the environment, a dense, rust-red oxide layer automatically forms on its surface. This oxide layer effectively prevents oxygen and water penetration, achieving rust prevention through oxidation and eliminating the need for paint protection. Unlike ordinary steel, which continues to corrode after rusting, the oxide layer on weathering steel becomes a protective layer once formed.
